Social media being the ongoing venture in today's society, it is important that everyone grasp a firm learning on how to use these resources. While social media can be beneficiary to those in a company, it can also be its greatest hindrance. Companies, such as Adidas, IBM, Sprint, and HP, have all taken the initiative to prevent as many negative outcomes occurring upon the company. These organizations, along with others, are now mandating social media training for its employees. Ever since these steps have been taken by the companies, there has been a trend of social media being used efficiently by those in the organization, and a decrease of inappropriate uses. Now the main concern is how would you implement these new found social media training courses effectively as possible. Here is a list of the 5 guidelines for creating a successful social media training program.
- Start Early
- Create a branded program for social media training
- Be specific and explicit about what you want
- Include game mechanisms to engage and reward employees
- Create a vehicle for continuous improvement.
Do you feel these are legitimate tools for creating an prolific social media training program? If you were to create you own social media program, what would you add on to the program? Discuss and comment.
Social media training seems to be a good thing for companies. As far as these being legitimate tools for a training program, I don't see anything bad or wrong with these 5 steps. I would add a series of hands-on and video training to the program but other than that, looks good! I agree with the program and think it would allow companies to better prevent social media abuse.

I do wonder what this could mean for social media. I give Facebook about 3 more years before the government has to subsidize its assets and market of its ownership to legal entities that can manage all of the traffic. Who knows maybe they will make a new website that is strictly for working professionals. Kind of how LinkedIn is trying to do, but Facebook has a better interface and activity ratio so I would look into the future for what social networks can do for a business as far as connectivity is concerned. I already know people who have a job that is solely based on upkeep and management of an image for a company's social network pages.
