With Facebook currently as the largest social media network, people are obviously going to log on from time to time while at work. However, we should be extremely careful about what we post when at work, as well as when not at work. More and more people are getting fired for problems with their Facebook accounts.
Just because your Facebook page is set to private, that does not mean you are in the clear your boss may still find out about things you post, including those pictures you uploaded of you at the drinking club last night, as well as the one of you shopping the day you called in sick. Also, be aware that if you are Facebook friends with any of your co-workers anything you post will eventually make its way to the boss.
At this link are "9 Ways Facebook can get you fired". Some seem painfully obvious, and I think that anyone who does these things are basically asking to be fired on the spot, and they deserve it. But, some are things you may not have thought about. Such as, liking pages that oppose the beliefs or values of your company or boss. Six people recently "were fired just for liking the Facebook page of their boss's political opponent after a judge ruled that clicking the "like" button is not constitutionally protected speech."
Just being on Facebook at work may cost you. You don't even have to say anything bad about the company, it makes you look bad to your boss and it makes the company look bad as a whole.
